The amazing gathered clutch tutorial by Anna!  I have made mine in the past as gifts, and I just loved it!

And below is what I created to share with you for the final day of my blog tour: Airmail Mug Rug (or a small placemat).  Ever since I moved to the U.S. a few decades ago, I have enjoyed exchanging airmails with my friends and family in Japan. We all know the wonderful feeling of receiving an airmail, especially from someone special!

そして今度は私の手作り作品のご紹介です。今日は著書の掲載作品より「エアメール・マグラグ」を作ってみました。（マグラグとは小さめのティータイム用マットのことです）。私は日本からアメリカに移り住んでかれこれ20年以上経ちますが、これまでには日本に住む友人や家族とは数え切れないくらいの数のエアメールで文通をしてきました。　特に海外で暮らしていると、親しい人たちから届くエアメールを受け取る嬉しさは格別です！その幸せな想いを形にしたのがこの作品です。

Small fabric scraps are cut out and appliqued as "postage".

小さなハギレを集めて「切手」ふうにアップリケしています。

Day 10 of Zakka Handmades Blog Tour - Roxy Creations ブログツアー10日目♪

Wow. It's hard to believe that we're in the final week, or Day 10, of Zakka Handmades Blog tour! Which means there is only one more stop to go... Eeeek!

I'm very excited that our stop for today is the talented sisters behind Roxy Creations, Sarah and Rachel! Sarah is a full time teacher who lives in Australia, and Rachel runs a successful etsy business based in Italy. They are both mums of one child and the sisters enjoy embroidering, quilting, sewing, painting, and much more.  The sisters share their lovely creations through their mutual blog, Roxy Creations.

What amazes me is that despite living 9,000 miles or 14,000 km away from each other (Australia and Italy), Sarah and Rachel continue to connect and share their thoughts through their handmade creations! What a beautiful sisterly love that is!

ブログツアー10日目の今日は仲良し姉妹の Sarah さんと Rachel さんが姉妹のブログ、Roxy Creations にてブックレビューをして下さっています。Sarah さんはオーストラリア在住。教職に就くかたわら、手芸作品を制作されています。一方、Rachel さんはイタリアにお住まいで現在はご自身のオンラインショップにて手作り作品の販売をされています。お二人ともそれぞれ一児のママ。お忙しい時間をやりくりしつつ手芸を楽しみ、お二人共同のブログにてハンドメイド作品を発表されています。　オーストラリアとイタリア・・・と遠く離れた地に暮らしながらも、手芸を通してますます強まるお二人の美しき姉妹愛に感動してしまいます♪

Sarah's "new baby boy quilt". What an eye candy this quilt is!

上はSarahさん作の男の子用キルト。鮮やかな色使いが素敵ですね！

Rachel's handmade growth charts made for young children. These lovely heirlooms can be customized at her shop with your child's name stitched on them!

こちらは Rachel さんのハンドメイドの布製子供用身長計です。オンラインショップ上で注文をすれば、お子さんのお名前も入れてくださいます。可愛すぎです！

And here's what I made for today... Kotori (little bird) zipper pouches from my book!  I made two birds, and you know what? They are sisters, just like Sarah and Rachel! lol

さて、以下は私の作品です。著書の掲載作品より「小鳥のポーチ」を二羽？作ってみました。もちろん、この二羽の小鳥は姉妹です～（笑）。

I added colors to their linen wings using my hand carved eraser stamps of a tiny flower and a simple dot. 

羽のリネン部分は、消しゴムはんこを使って花柄と水玉模様にしてみました。

Because I adore Mette's work so much, I decided to create zakka project from my book featuring the Danish flag!

今回はメッテさんのご出身地デンマークにあやかって、デンマーク国旗をクロスステッチした雑貨を作ってみました。

First I cross stitched a tiny Danish flag and used it to embellish my Flex Frame Pouch. You can find how to make this convenient pouch in my book.

小さなデンマーク国旗をクロスステッチで刺したものをほどこして、バネポーチを作ってみました。バネポーチの作り方は私の著書でご紹介しています。

To the right is the Vintage Ribbon Flex Frame Pouch from my book. Flex frame pouches are so quick to make yet very easy to use - which is why it's one of my favorite zakka projects to create.

向かって右側は、本に掲載されているリボン使いのバネポーチです。左側は今回作ったポーチです。「バネポ」は作るのが簡単で使いやすいので手作りするには最適な雑貨作品だと思います♪

 Be Merry Festive Garland tutorial by A Spoonful of Sugar

Above is a lovely holiday tutorial by Lisa and Sarah: Be Merry Festive Garland.  From their recent post, I had learned that celebrating Christmas in July is relatively common in Aussie due to the cold weather during this season. (Remember, Christmas time is in Summer for the folks in southern hemisphere!)

Emergency Zipper Pouch by A Spoonful of Sugar

Another helpful tutorial by the mother/daughter team is the Emergency Zipper Pouch. Isn't this the cutest way to keep the first aid supplies handy?

お二人の作り方レシピからもう一点、皆さんにご紹介したいのはこちらのファーストエイド（応急処置）用ポーチ。絆創膏などを持ち歩くのに便利ですね！

And below is my version of the Emergency Zipper Pouch, made from Lisa and Sarah's awesome tute! As you can see, I made mine considerably bigger (finished size is 8" x 6.5" or 20 cm x 16.25 cm) to fit my entire travelling first aid kit for my family. 

今回は私もお二人の作り方レシピを参考にファーストエイドポーチを作ってみました。家族旅行用に応急処置セットをすべて収納したかったので大きめサイズに調整してみました。出来上がりサイズは 20 cm x 16.25 cm。

For our next family trip, I will definitely make use of this Emergency Zipper Pouch!

このファーストエイドポーチ、次の家族旅行の際には必ず持参したいと思います～。

And I just had to try Amy's Cookies and Milk Snack Mat myself!  Below images are my version of the Cookies and Milk Snack Mat.

今回は私もAmyさんの作り方レシピを参考に、この可愛いおやつマットを作ってみましたよ。

Instead of stitching the words "cookies" and "milk", I took short cut and used alphabet stamps...

"cookies" と "milk"の文字は刺しゅうではなく、アルファベット文字スタンプで代用してみました。

I also stamped my tea pot and a mug cup eraser stamps to go along with the big cookie and a glass of milk on the placemat!

以前自分で彫った「ティーポットとマグカップの消しゴムはんこ」をリネンにポン！と捺して、お手製のタグを縫い付けてみました。

It's so fun to create an original handmade fabric label using my hand carved eraser stamps and scraps of linen and polka dot print!

手彫りの消しゴムはんこでタグを作るのは楽しい作業です♪
