My Handcarved Eraser Stamps and More Makes❣

As I was tidying up my craft space today, I laid out all my handcarved eraser stamps on my desk and this is how much I've carved so far! I haven't had a chance to carve eraser stamps lately, but I sure miss making these tiny stuff...

Using few of my eraser stamps, I decorated some cards.

As much as I enjoy sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting, and embroidering, eraser stamping is another favorite craft of mine that I truly enjoy ;-)

And here are a couple of other makes that I recently posted on my Facebook and Instagram.  These may look familiar to you if you've been following me on FB and IG!

Fabric stamps love! I made these fabric stamps from my book. These are so addicting to make! I highly recommend to make some of these if you've got bunch of fabric scraps like me♥♥♥

Then I made clip purses using purse frames I got from a local 100 yen shop (dollar store).

One day,  I was surprised when my hubby asked me to make a simple sleeve for his second smart phone, prior to his business trip. (He almost never ask me to sew anything for him!) Unlike our girls, it was super easy to sew for my hubby because he is not at all picky about fabrics! (lol) ‪

I used fleece for the interior to protect the phone.

Well that's it for tonight... Hope you all have a creative week!

Lots of Hawaiian Sachets for my friend

Aloha!

No I'm not in Hawaii but I wish I am!! I continue to be busy for the Houston Quilt Market prep, but let me take a break for now and dream about being in Hawaii... ahhhh!

You may recall this Monstera stamped sachet that I made earlier.

Well a little while ago, I made a bunch of similar sachets for my dear girlfriend who is a hula-dancer, an accountant, and a super-mom!

She is a very sweet girl who loves everything Hawaiian.  Hope she likes them!

How to make this eraser stamped lavender sachet can be found in my book.  Create your original sachets using your favorite stamps.

Hope you have a wonderful week filled with a scent of lavender!
Mahalo! (Or thank you♪in Hawaiian.)

Eraser stamped lavender sachet for my friend

My girlfriend is losing sleep from her medical conditions and stress.  I wish I have a quick remedy for her, but unfortunately I don't... Feeling so helpless, I made a quick gift for her. It's a handmade sachet packed with organic dried lavender.

In the center of the sachet I stamped my hand carved eraser stamp that I carved a while ago.  The size of the linen square is 3" (7.5 cm) square.

Back side of the sachet.

If you are interested in making this eraser stamped lavender sachet, you can find it in my book. I used my hand carved eraser stamp for this project, but you can pick any stamp you like and stamp it onto the center of the block to make an unique, one of a kind gift item or to keep for yourself.

Hope my friend can sleep well tonight with this sachet at her bed side...

Pyramid zipper pouch in Hawaiian fabrics

Here's a recent handmade gift item that I stitched for my girlfriend - it's a pyramid shaped zipper pouch. My girlfriend enjoys hula dancing, so I wanted to make something with a Hawaiian inspired fabric for her.

I have made a couple of pyramid shaped sachets in the past (you can find my tute here), but for this pouch, I made it into a zipper pouch. I think my hand carved Hawaiian *honu* (or the turtle) stamp adds the handmade touch to the pyramid pouch^^

I plan to make more of these pyramid zipper pouches in the future.
Mahalo (thank you) and enjoy your summer!

Zakka Handmades Giveaway Winners Announced! and the Monstera Stamp Sachet

So... Do you remember these Monstera leaf and the Hibiscus stamps that hand carved from an eraser earlier?

Well I made an Eraser Stamped Lavender Sachet from one of the stamped fabrics.

I filled up this sachet with generous amount of dried lavender, using a paper funnel I made from simply rolling up a piece of paper in a cone.

Love the summery feel of this sachet! If you are interested in making your own, the project is featured in my book♪

Have a great week and hope you continue to enjoy your summer! (I mean winter, for the folks in the Southern Hemisphere, of course :D

Cookies and Milk Snack Mat created by me

Amy lives a busy life here in Los Angeles (yes, we're neighbors!) with her awesome husband and her four children (including the sweetest baby girl who is only a few months old)!  If you have visited her blog before, you know how lovely and delicate her creations are... Amy's style is vintage and modern, girly and clean, and everything in between. Go check out her blog to see the zakka she has created for this blog hop, and yes, to enter the giveaway to win a copy of my book!

My book: Zakka Handmades

The above is Amy's original embroidery pattern, "Be Joyful and Give Thanks" that you can find in her etsy shop.  Her stitchery is breathtakingly beautiful...

This one is my favorite: Amy's cutest Cookies and Milk Snack Mat. You can find the step-by-step tutorial on her blog here.

And I just had to try Amy's Cookies and Milk Snack Mat myself!  Below images are my version of the Cookies and Milk Snack Mat.

Instead of stitching the words "cookies" and "milk", I took short cut and used alphabet stamps...

I also stamped my tea pot and a mug cup eraser stamps to go along with the big cookie and a glass of milk on the placemat!

It's so fun to create an original handmade fabric label using my hand carved eraser stamps and scraps of linen and polka dot print!

So here's what I made dreaming about the life in Hawaii... I hand carved some Hawaiian themed eraser stamps (Monstera leaf and Hibiscus flower), and randomly stamped them onto pieces of muslin scraps using various colored ink.

Storing eraser stamps in my grandpa's toolbox

I organized my carved eraser stamp collection recently.  These stamps are hand carved by me using eraser blocks and a sharp craft knife.

I decided to store the entire stamps, carving tools, and inks into this toolbox that I inherited from my maternal aunt.

My grandpa had a total of five daughters, and he made this handmade toolbox for each and every daughter when he was still active (a total of five toolboxes). My grandpa passed away almost three decades ago, but his toolbox is still being used, now by me!

The toolbox is structured in accordion fold style in two tiers. I'm not sure what kind of wood is used.

Now that my entire stamp carving items are organized in one place, it's so convenient and everything is easily accessible.

Thanks to my aunt for letting me use this precious toolbox, and a huge thanks to my grandpa for making such a lovely gift!

Drawstring bags with hand carved eraser stamp labels

I made some oversized drawstring bags for my sister to organize her suitcase. My sis lives in the Midwest state and she enjoys traveling with her family often.

To accessorize the bags, I created original handmade labels using the stamps that I carved out from the erasers.  For each and every bag, I stamped different eraser stamps using various colored inks.

Flower stamps in red, purple, and turquoise green ink.  Once the fabric is pressed with hot iron, the stamp stays permanent.

This one is a blue bird stamped on the window fabric.

Apple stamp for the apple fabric. A layer of red x white gingham check scrap adds the zakka taste to the apple label.

And another bird stamp on the simple pinstripes.

Of course, I included some of my sis's favorite chocolate bars when I shipped these bags to her :) Maybe she liked these Godiva bars more than my handmade bags? lol

Eraser stamp carving needs some practice, but it's not difficult once you get the hang of it. I've covered the eraser stamp carving techniques in my book if you're interested in carving your own eraser stamps!

Before I go, I have a great announcement that Anna of Noodlehead joined the blog tour of my book! Which means we now have eleven blog hops to enjoy. The blog tour will begin from 6/24/13, so hope you stay tuned!
