Just dropping by to wish you all have a Happy Easter Sunday...

こちらでは今週末はイースター（復活祭）です。イースターには、イースターエッグ（卵）と、バニーでお祝いするのが慣わしです。

こちらはイースターにちなんで、以前作ったリネンのウサギさんたち♪

Our neighbor brought over these yummy bunny chocolates for our girls today. But before we knew it, our youngest girl ate her bunny in a blink of an eye! I have no idea where she got her "chocoholic-ness" from! lol

今日はご近所の方が我が家の娘達にイースターバニーを型どったチョコレートを持ってきてくださいました。折角いただいたチョコレート、この写真撮影後には次女はもう頭からかぶりついてチョコを平らげていました。一体、次女は誰に似てそんなにチョコ好きになったのでしょうか…。←大いに心当たりありの母です。（苦笑）

Linen bunny and a crochet edged bib set ♪リネンのうさぎと、ふち編みビブのベビーギフト♪

I made this baby gift set a while ago, but I noticed that I still haven't post it yet... This is a handmade linen bunny and a crochet edged bib gift set, made specially by me to celebrate the arrival of my girlfriend's baby. 

こちらは少し前に作った赤ちゃんのお誕生祝いです。

リネンのうさぎさんと、ふち編みのビブのセットです。長年の友人に待望の女の子が生まれたのをお祝いして作りました♪

The bib is reversible.  For the front side, I used my favorite double gauze fabric from nani IRO.  I just love the softness and the delicate colors of this fabric!

リバーシブルのビブの表側は　Nani IRO　という日本製ブランドのダブルガーゼを使いました。この生地のとても柔らかい肌触りと、なんともいえない微妙な色合いがお気に入りです。

The reverse side of the bib is a machine quilted linen. Soft cotton batting is sandwiched in between. 

ビブの裏側はリネンをミシンキルティングしてみました。100％コットンの柔らかいキルト芯を使っています。

The bib was made for a baby girl... but I wanted to use light blue instead of pink! :) 

このギフトセットは女の子用ですが、あえてピンクの基調にせず水色にしてみましたがどうかな。

The patterns of this linen bunny and the bib are my original.  

However... until I took a closer look at the above pic, I didn't realize that the bunny's arms are too long for her body??  I may need to shorten them for the next time! :P

うさぎさんも、ビブも、私のオリジナル型紙で作ってみました。ただ、こうして見るとうさぎの手が体の割には長すぎませんか？？次回はもう少し短く作らねば～。^^；

I hand stitched the baby girl's initial in the center of the block...

The gift set was shipped to the happy family of three who lives in Tokyo. I hope the sweet baby "K" lives a long and happy life filled with lots of love, good health, and prosperity. We are so delighted for your arrival!

中央の「K」はベビーちゃんのイニシャルです。ご覧の通り、少々いびつな出来になってしまいましたが（苦笑）、生まれたばかりの「K」ちゃんが健康で幸せいっぱいの人生を送りますように・・・と願いをこめて作りました。　東京在住の友人宅の元に無事に届いたようで一安心です。

Hello from my linen patchwork bunny and our trip to winter wonderland ♪ リネン＋パッチワークのウサギさんからご挨拶と、雪のアメリカ中西部への旅

Hello! to my crafty friends from my linen + patchwork bunny!  Hope you all had a lovely Christmas with your family and friends.

手作りリネン＋パッチワークのウサギさんからこんにちは！　皆さんもご家族やご友人と素敵なクリスマスを過ごされたことと思います。 

This bunny is made from my original pattern. She doesn't have a name yet, but I already adore her so much! 

このウサギさんは私のオリジナル作品です。まだ名前はないのですが、この子の存在には既に癒されています^^

少し前に作ったリネンのワンちゃんともすっかり打ち解けています。笑

さて、今年のクリスマスは他州で暮らす妹一家に会うために家族で出かけてきました。現在、日本から来ている母も一緒に、温暖な気候の南カリフォルニアから・・・

...the snowy winter wonderland of the Midwest state!  Yes the weather was freeeeezing cold over there and we got stranded at the connecting airport, but we ended up having such good time! You know, our girls are born and raised here in Southern California, so it was their first time to see and feel the *real snow* and to enjoy the winter sports. They had a blast!  A huge thanks to my sis's family for entertaining us with so much fun!

雪の舞うアメリカ中西部の州に出かけてきました～。悪天候のため乗継ぎ便が欠航になり、途中の空港では足止めされたりしましたが、最終的にはとても楽しい旅行ができました。特に我が家の娘たちは生まれも育ちも南カリフォルニアなので、これまでは雪というものを見たことがなかったのですが、今回は妹一家とスキーなどウインタースポーツも満喫できて、大満足の数日間となりました！　冷え性の私には寒さが堪えましたが・・・＞＜；妹一家には感謝です♪

We stopped by at Kinokuniya bookstore (Japanese bookstore) in Chicago, Illinois, and guess what made me happy? Yes, I spotted my book at a corner shelf of the bookstore! 

Because of all the holiday preparation and traveling, I hadn't been able to do much stitching lately. I am itching to go back to my sewing table now!   So...what are you stitching right now?

途中、立ち寄ったシカゴの紀伊国屋書店では私の著書を見つけてニンマリ^^　

クリスマスの準備や国内旅行などが続いたため、ここ数日間はソーイングをすることができなかったのですが、今は早く何か作りたくてウズウズしています。　皆さんもお忙しい年末年始かと思いますが、ほんの短い手芸タイムを利用してどうかほっこりしたひと時をお過ごしくださいね♪

Handmade puppy love リネンのワンちゃん。

I had an idea of making a stuffed puppy toy by combining linen and other fabric scraps.  I'm so happy that this puppy guy finally came to life :)

リネンやコットン生地のハギレを使ってワンちゃんのぬいぐるみを作ってみました。ずっと頭の中で作り方や生地合わせを考えていたので、今回やっと子犬の形になったことが嬉しいです♪　

I couldn't make up my mind what outfit best suits him - so I ended up making his clothes two-sided!  This is the reverse side. As you can see, even his ears look different on this side. lol.

このワンちゃん、表と裏では着ている洋服も、耳の模様も違います（笑）。

Puppy under construction... The word "puppy" is being hand stitched on to his body using running stitches.

ワンちゃん作成中。ランニングステッチで puppy （子犬）と刺しゅうをいれてみました。

Making my own pup was so fun to sew and fun to hug.  Now my wild dream is to create a family of handmade pups!!

とても楽しく作れたので、今度はこのワンちゃんのファミリーも手作りで揃えたいなあ・・・。などとまたしても妄想は膨らむばかりです。

Gingham Bear ギンガムチェックのくまさん

I have a dream of creating a mini zoo out of my handmade stuffed toys... and this Gingham Bear will be the first animal in my zoo. 

私はいつの日か、自分で作った動物達で小さな動物園を作りたいと思っています。このギンガムチェックのくまさんは「マイ・ズー」の動物さん第一号となりました！

The face is embroidered with satin and straight stitches. He is small enough to sit on my palm. 

顔はサテンステッチとストレートステッチで刺しゅうしました。手のひらにちょこんと乗る小さめサイズです。

Reverse side. May be I should add a tail to him? Hmm... we'll see. 

後姿はこんな感じです。　しっぽを作ってあげたほうがいいかな？と悩み中。

He is stuffed with poly fill, but replacing it with dried lavender will make a great sachet, too!

中味は化繊綿を詰めていますが、乾燥ラベンダーを詰めればサシェにもなりますね。
